The Good Pirates, Sea Sheperd

Beyond talking about travels, beautiful places around the world, experiences and so on, today i want to give space to  people that are trying to save one of the most important part of the Earth, the wildlife.
I'm talking about the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS).
Established in 1977 SSCS is an international NON-PROFIT marine wildlife conservation organization.
Their mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in world's oceans to protect ecosystem and species.

Sea Shepherd has been accused many times, by  illegal organizations, to be anti-Japan, anti-Scandinavian or anti-Native Americans, because of their opposition to illegal whaling or the killing of dolphins. SSCS operates without prejudice towards race, color, nationality, religion and etc. Against all these charges they answer saying that dolphins, whales, seals, turtles and fish are their "clients" and they just represent them.
Fonder of the Sea Shpherd

"I have been honored to serve the whales, dolphins, seals - and all the other creatures on this Earth. Their beauty, intelligence, strength, and spirit have inspired me. These beings have spoken to me, touched me, and I have been rewarded by friendship with many members of different species.
If the whales survive and flourish, if the seals continue to live and give birth, and if I can contribute to ensuring their future prosperity, I will be forever happy."

- Paul Watson

                                                         Sea Shepherd campaigns

Dolphins, the problem with small cetaceans is that there isn't an international commission to regulate the killing. Sea Shepherd has intervened over the years to disrupt these killing, to initiate world wide protest, and to keep media and public pressure on those responsible trough articles, films and interventions.
Defending Galapagos, since 2000 Sea Shepherd has maintained a strong positive presence on Galapgos Islands, using a wide range of methods and action like educating the local youth.
Seals, Canada's commercial seal hunt is the largest mass slaughter of marine mammals in the world. Sea Shepherd continues his action to end this "hunt", that is actually is not a "hunt", the poor seals have no reasons to escape or hiding, they sealers bush them on the head or with a shoot.
Sharks, they are being depleted faster then they can reproduce. This threatens the stability of marine ecosystems around the world. This is a multi billion dollar industry and don't forget the brutality of how sharks are killed, leaving them agonizing.
Whales, Sea Shepherd has gone on to the end the careers of 9 illegal whaling vessels, saving thousand of whales.

Sea Shepherd use innovative direct actions tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. Safeguarding the biodiversity of our ocean ecosystem, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations.
Almost 30 years of work, they always need your support, together we will succeed! There are many ways, check the website for any info www.seashepherd.org
