A Fellow Traveler Called Music (A Non Cliche Playlist)

Amadou & Miriam feat. Manu Chao
Camions sauvages
"Camions Sauvages" always been on my playlist while traveling, the Manu Chao guitar always bring me far away, even sitting in my room.
"Le long des long camions sauvages, Le monde est mon camion sauvage"

Woodye Guthrie
This land is your land
A quintessential American song, lyric and music perfect describe the US landscapes.
"This land is your land, this land is my land, from California to the New York Island,
from the red wood forest to the Gulf Stream waters, this land was made for you and me"

Air
Alone in Kyoto
Famous to be on Lost in Translation soundtrack, "Alone in Kyoto" has all the power to bring you to the charming Japan.

Gotan Project
Vuelvo al Sur

Doesn't matter where the "South" is for you, Gotan Project take you there where warm sound plays.
"Quiero al sur, su buena gente, su dignidad, siento el Sur"

Noir Desir
Le Vent Nous Portera
Such beautiful song of Noir Desir, never get tired of listen to it, good memories while traveling, like moving in an old bus in the middle of nowhere, feeling the "road" and like they say "don't be scared of it, everything will be fine"
"Et tout ira bien, le vent nous portera"

Mogway
Yes, I'm a Long Way From Home
Perfect for a resting place somewhere in the world, enjoying the peace of this song and maybe Yes, You Are Long Way From Home.
"Cause music is bigger then words and wider the pictures"

Gustavo Santaolalla
De Usuahia a la Quiaca

Heard for the first time on the movie "Motorcycle Diaries" and quickly went on my travel playlist. An inspiring movie to travel, an inspiring song to do it.

Gogol Bordello
Wonderlust King
I can easily imagine traveling around the Balkans with the powerful gipsy sound of Gogol Bordello.
"Through Siberian woods breaking up their neck, Chinese moving in building discoteques"

Eddie Weber
Long Nights
My first trip alone was one of the best ever, such a pity that beautiful soundtrack of Into the Wild wasn't already released. Deep nostalgic, Long Nights hurts you without pain.
"Have no fear for when i'm alone, i'll be better of then i was before"

Modest House
The World At Large
A song for souls always moving looking for a place to stay, we all are a bit like that. I love the lyric of this sweet song, i couldn't leave out of this playlist.
"Walked away to another plan. Gonna find another place, maybe one i can stand"

Omar Faruk
Kolaymi
Discovered Omar Faruk music before my trip to the south of Turkey, i'm glad i did it, followed me through amazing kurdish landscapes and genuine people.

Nicolas Jaar
El Bandido
This is not a cliche travel playlist and this song neither, but the idea of traveling is wrote in the lyric and in his rhythm indeed.
"De peru a Paraguay el bandido, de Colombia a Brazil con el bandido"

Je Suis France
That don't work well for us
Not about traveling, but i love it,easy listening, maybe before get in your plane to somewhere, excited and happy!

Biggi Hilmars
Future Prospect
Heard on "Life in a Day", maybe because of the documentary this song seems to hold the entire life in the world. Amazing 12 minutes that worth your life.

Federico Aubele
Berlin
The argentine style about a city like Berlin, a mix a couldn't resist. Dreaming Buenos Aires, dreaming Berlin.
"Sueno Buenos Aires, Sueno Berlin"

Rene Aubry
Apres la Pluie II

Some feelings can't be described and this is how i feel with that song. Stunning.

I ain't got no plan.

"The World At Large"

Ice-age heat wave, can't complain.
If the world's at large, why should I remain?
Walked away to another plan.
Gonna find another place, maybe one I can stand.
I move on to another day,
to a whole new town with a whole new way.
Went to the porch to have a thought.
Got to the door and again, I couldn't stop.
You don't know where and you don't know when.
But you still got your words and you got your friends.
Walk along to another day.
Work a little harder, work another way.

Well uh-uh baby I ain't got no plan.
We'll float on maybe would you understand?
Gonna float on maybe would you understand?
Well float on maybe would you understand?

The days get shorter and the nights get cold.
I like the autumn but this place is getting old.
I pack up my belongings and I head for the coast.
It might not be a lot but I feel like I'm making the most.
The days get longer and the nights smell green.
I guess it's not surprising but it's spring and I should leave.

I like songs about drifters - books about the same.
They both seem to make me feel a little less insane.
Walked on off to another spot.
I still haven't gotten anywhere that I want.
Did I want love? Did I need to know?
Why does it always feel like I'm caught in an undertow?

The moths beat themselves to death against the lights.
Adding their breeze to the summer nights.
Outside, water like air was great.
I didn't know what I had that day.
Walk a little farther to another plan.
You said that you did, but you didn't understand.

I know that starting over is not what life's about.
But my thoughts were so loud I couldn't hear my mouth.
My thoughts were so loud I couldn't hear my mouth.
My thoughts were so loud.
